Display Tips

Your booth space is your own environment where you create and control the mood, lighting and interaction. Use it to its fullest potential to draw buyers in!

Lighting
Booths that are fully illuminated are welcoming, warm and highlight your product well. Make sure your entire booth has an even spread of lighting. (You may save money by purchasing your own lighting, fixtures, extension cords and spare light bulbs). Please note: a building electrician must be hired to insure the job has been done properly and there is no visible fire hazard.

Signs and Graphics
Company identity can be established through the use of graphics and signage.

Creating an Environment
Set the tone! We encourage draping flame resistant fabric on tables, chairs and hanging backdrops that make your booth and product stand out from the rest!

Special Props and Fixtures
Props are special elements, which help to sell a concept of a booth. Look for fun pieces at a friend's house, garage sales and flea markets.

5 Basic Rules of Booth Design

  1. Sight - Use Fire Resistant cloth, display company logo, arrange goods in groups or model your own goods. Wear a great big smile!
  2. Touch - Be sure your merchandise can be touched. Use interesting and soft flooring.
  3. Taste - Offer hard candies or give out food-especially if you sell food items.
  4. Smell - Spray your booth with a subtle classic perfume or place potpourri in and around your space.
  5. Sound - Introduce soft music in your booth.

Top 10 Operational Issues for New Exhibitors:

  1. Read the Setup Manual
  2. No Sample Selling
    • Unless you are in Kentia or Concourse halls, there is absolutely NO SELLING FOR CASH at the show.
    • To draw quality buyers to the show, we must maintain its wholesale integrity
  3. Parking
    • Parking is available at the LACC for $12.00 per day with no in-and-out privileges.
    • A special rate is available for exhibitors who need to enter the parking structures more than once a day. Call the LACC for more information at 213-741-1151.
    • Rates at lots surrounding the LACC can be as high as $25.00 per day.
  4. Booth Packages
    • The standard booth package includes carpet, pipe & drape side & rear walls, booth sign, one chair, one wastebasket, vacuuming (first night only) and drayage.
    • Many divisions have custom packages.
    • Additional furnishings and carpet can be ordered by using the Freeman Price/Order Form in your Set-Up Manual.
    • For your booth identification sign, you must complete and return the Order Form A-2 in the Set-Up Manual by the deadline date.
    • Height Limitations For Displays and Hanging Signs
    • Exhibitors may not place fixtures, signs or merchandise above 8'.
    • Exhibitors may extend the back and side walls and fascias of their exhibits up to 12' in height, including graphics limited to company name/corporate logo, provided they follow the guidelines set forth in the Set-Up Manual.
  5. Electricity
    • Double-check the booth description for your division to determine whether electricity is provided or not.
    • If electricity is not included in your booth package, you can order it directly through the LACC by printing and faxing them the completed form in the Set-Up Manual or calling the LACC direct at 213-741-1151, ext. 5470 or online at www.lacclink.com, choosing Services Provided, then Exhibitor Services.
  6. Flame Proofing Your Display
    • All display materials in your booth (excluding product) must be flame proofed before the start of the show. It is common practice for The Los Angeles Fire Department to conduct a Match Flame Test to every display.
    • To avoid the Match Flame Test, provide to the Fire Marshall ON SITE, any and all copies of Certificates of Flame Resistance corresponding to your display.
    • Certificates from other states may not be valid. Contact Michael T. Riley of the LA Fire Department at 213-978-3640 in advance of the show to determine the validity of your Certificate of Flame Resistance.
    • You may make arrangements to have our vendor, Delta Pacific Technologies, flame proof your display materials before the show, or on-site during set-up. Call Delta Pacific Technologies at 714-634-3485 or 800-794-0888 for an appointment.
  7. Labor/Union Rules
    • Members of the Decorators union claim jurisdiction over all set-up and dismantling of exhibits. This does not apply to the unpacking and placement of your merchandise. You may set up your exhibit display without hiring labor if one person can accomplish the task in less than 1/2 hour without the use of tools.
    • Exhibitors should, under no circumstances, become involved in disputes regarding labor. Any questions should be directed to Freeman Decorating, Sullivan Transfer Company and the LACC or to Show Management.
  8. Insurance
    • Insurance for exhibits and product is the responsibility of exhibitors. Neither George Little Management, LLC, dmg world media, CGS Acquisition, the LACC, the contractors nor any of their officers, agents or employees assume any responsibility for theft or damage for any of the exhibitors' property.
  9. Freight and Domestic and International Shipping
    • Freight will be received between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm on Wednesday, July 26 and Thursday, July 27.
    • Drayage includes:
      - Receiving freight at the LACC
      - Delivery to your booth
      - Storage and return of empty crates and cartons (empties)
      - Reloading of outbound freight
    • Methods to ship your product and display to the show:
      - Ship in advance to Sullivan Transfer Company warehouse
      - Ship in advance with a recommended carrier directly to the LACC
      - Ship with your own carrier directly to the LACC
      - Deliver in your own vehicle
      - Carry in yourself (certain restrictions apply)
      - Ship via small package carriers (UPS, FedEx, etc.) (Additional charges will apply.)
      - All Shipments must be sent prepaid.
    • Phoenix is the recommended Customs House Broker and International Freight Forwarder for the Show. International participants should be aware that exhibitors' freight is entered into the U.S. under "Temporary Trade Fair Status" and is therefore considered by Customs to be in bond.
    • Exhibitors are responsible for the pick-up of their merchandise from the LACC at the conclusion of the Show. In the event of failure to collect exhibitor's merchandise, the official freight contractor reserves the right to re-route shipments. Material Handling Agreements covering all outgoing shipments must be handed in at the freight desk prior to departure.
